Meet our new Investment Attraction Specialist


 

Foreign direct investment helps Fredericton reach its full economic potential by providing capital to enhance existing industries, boost productivity and create new employment opportunities in the process. Securing investment that will maximize long-term economic growth for the city is one of Ignite Fredericton’s top priorities. Our vibrant economy is taking its place on the global stage and Sarah Corey Hollohan, our new Investment Attraction Specialist, will help us to accomplish this mission.

Introducing our new Population Growth Specialist!


Population growth is closely interlinked with the attainment of economic growth. An increase in the size of population enlarges the scope of investment and the production base of an economy Alike, population growth increases the supply of labour. It is important for Fredericton to continue to attract and retain its population as we are facing the dawn of an aging population, as well as a significant decrease in birth rates —an aspect that raises tremendous concern about filling the jobs of the future and sparking innovative output.

Meet Our New Marketing Intern!


We are pleased to introduce Lourdes Pastrana, Ignite Fredericton’s new marketing intern. Pursuing an honours in psychology at St. Thomas University, Lulu is thrilled to bring her understanding of people’s behaviour to increase Fredericton’s market research.

What’s your story?

Hi! My name is Lulu Pastrana. I am on my fourth year at St Thomas University completing an honours degree in Psychology. I was born and raised in Morelia, a city in Mexico on the Pacific ocean side.  I decided to study psychology because in case you didn’t know, our brain accounts for 2% of our weight but contains 100 billion neurons that are responsible for every single detail that makes you, you! It is the most intricate and mysterious thing in the universe. Isn't that worth studying?

Meet Our New Local Immigration Partnership Coordinator!


Immigration Minister, Ahmed Hussen, recently announced that in 2021 Canada will take in 40,000 more immigrants. Newcomers are a huge asset for an economy as they address skills shortages and gaps in the labour market. Alike, immigrants bring with them practices and knowledge from their homeland which are distinctive and unique. Newcomers enhance multilingualism and diversity. Nevertheless, the challenges faced by them are multi-faceted. From immigration paperwork, to culture and communication styles at the workplace, newcomers have a lot to take on board to fully integrate to the community.

At Ignite Fredericton, one of our key priorities is to establish long-term partnerships between the public and private sector that will assure newcomers’ needs are met all through the settlement and integration process.
