Originally from New Brunswick's historically-rich port city, Jamie is a Saint Johner turned Frederictonian due to her passion for business and love for Fredericton's small town feel and sense of community. Having previously worked with the Government of New Brunswick as the Premier's Executive Assistant, Jamie quickly developed a taste for economic development and decided to pursue a continued career of creating positive impact in the community that she proudly calls home. Jamie found herself immediately drawn to the collaborative and innovative business culture that Fredericton is so widely known for, and eagerly accepted a position as Ignite Fredericton's new Business Intelligence Coordinator. Jamie comes to us from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Finance and Business Administration. An explorer at heart, Jamie spends her down time planning worldwide adventures and cuddling up with a good book. We sat down with Jamie and asked her to introduce herself to the Fredericton community. Here's what she had to say:

What’s your story?
I grew up in Saint John, but moved to Fredericton in 2013 to study at UNB. After graduating with a Bachelor in Business Administration, I spent some time working in research, communications, and travelling the world. If I’m not working, you can usually find me reading a book from my ever growing library or planning my next adventure.

What attracted you to our organization?
Working for the government after finishing my degree, I had the opportunity to work alongside the Fredericton business community throughout my role. Having worked with municipalities province wide, there are few ecosystems that work as collaboratively and impressively as the city of Fredericton. I have had my sights set on being a part of the Ignite team for quite some time. I have always been motivated by seeing positive results and development in the business community, and I’m thrilled to be contributing to that positivity here at Ignite Fredericton.

What are your goals as the new Business Intelligence Coordinator?
As the Business Intelligence Coordinator, I hope to support Ignite Fredericton to take the Fredericton business community to the next level in identifying growth opportunities and supporting strategic initiatives in the economic development ecosystem.

What will you bring to your role that is unique?
I’m highly motivated by results and very passionate about the work that I do. Having had the opportunity to learn more about business and community development in my previous job, I am motivated by being a part of that growth and seeing positive change in my community. I hope to bring success to the organization through my passion and willingness to make a difference.

Why did you choose to live and work in Fredericton?
As a daughter of two business executives, I always knew that I would pursue a career in business as my parents had. Although my family was sad to see me leave home, we agreed that Fredericton was the perfect place for me to settle and start my career. Fredericton’s small town feel and sense of community is second to none, and quickly felt like a home I couldn’t imagine leaving behind.
