Meet our new Investment Attraction Specialist
Foreign direct investment helps Fredericton reach its full economic potential by providing capital to enhance existing industries, boost productivity and create new employment opportunities in the process. Securing investment that will maximize long-term economic growth for the city is one of Ignite Fredericton’s top priorities. Our vibrant economy is taking its place on the global stage and Sarah Corey Hollohan, our new Investment Attraction Specialist, will help us to accomplish this mission.
We asked Sarah to introduce herself to the Fredericton Community. Here is what she had to say:
What’s your story?
I was born and raised in Fredericton. I attended UNB Business graduating in 2005 with an honors in Human Resources and a minor in Entrepreneurship. After graduation, I began working with entrepreneurs through local and provincial economic development organizations and haven’t looked back. I have worked with all stages of businesses, all diverse groups and have been fortunate enough to work in the export field helping women entrepreneurs grow their market base.
What makes you the perfect fit for this role?
What makes me great for this role, is my ability to see opportunity. I have been working with entrepreneurs for more than thirteen years, and their optimism, outlook, and drive has molded my work ethic. I love to network and I am absolutely thrilled to see others doing what they do best. I am also one of Fredericton biggest fans, so what a great opportunity for me to bring more people here not only to succeed in business but to enjoy the process in our wonderful city.
Why did you choose Fredericton?
I was fortunate enough to be raised in Fredericton, attending all levels of academics, including the University of New Brunswick Business Faculty. After graduating in 2005 from there I chose to stay.
I chose Fredericton for its pace of life. It has a fast-paced business community which works collaboratively and city-led initiatives that are important to us. The city offers diverse entertainment like the Fredericton Playhouse, the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, and many concerts at Officers Square. Alike, I chose it for the natural beauty of its walking trails, parks, and green spaces.
My husband and I chose to stay here to raise our daughter. Fredericton is such a safe and fun city and it offers events, almost every weekend. One can join friends at the open skating or at the splash pad, bike to the Boyce Farmers market and of course, enjoy the fantastic cafes and restaurants.
What are the things that make you unique?
I enjoy learning in a fast-paced and open dialogue environment. I am honest, whether you are ready for it or not and I have a strong work ethic, but it must be fun in order to have my full attention.
