Seasoned. Experienced. Export-focused.
Home to one of the largest number of engineers per capita in Canada, Fredericton’s 112 engineering firms consistently make their mark outside New Brunswick’s borders. More than 50 per cent of firms are export-focused. Fredericton’s 160-year tradition of engineering innovation is bolstered by city’s engineering-related academic research chairs and organizations, private-sector research facilities, and the University of New Brunswick’s Faculty of Engineering—Canada’s oldest engineering school.
Mega-Projects: The Next 10 Years
More than $7 Billion in mega-projects within 150 km radius of Fredericton are planned for the next 10 years.
Fredericton is an incredibly dynamic engineering community with a synergy and collaboration between the private sector, government, military, and UNB that likely could not occur anywhere else. There’s a myriad of world-class, innovative initiatives happening here, many of them spinning off new products and services and new start-ups with exportable products.

UNB’s Collaborative and Cross-Disciplinary Research
UNB has repeatedly been named one of Canada’s top research universities, in part due to its Faculty of Engineering. The faculty, which serves 1300 students in seven sub-disciplines, is the pivot point for the school’s highest profile and highest value cross-disciplinary research initiatives.
