UNB: Canada’s Most Entrepreneurial University
The University of New Brunswick, a publicly-funded comprehensive institution offering undergraduate through PhD programs, was recently named Canada’s Most Entrepreneurial University by Start-Up Canada. Since 2000, UNB has managed 259 invention disclosures, filed 92 separate patent applications, completed 124 technology transfer agreements, and created 24 UNB spinoff companies.
UNB offers degrees in Arts & Humanities, Sciences, Business, Forestry, Nursing, Law, Education, Engineering, and Computer Science.
Dr. Bruce Balcom (Physics) was awarded $2.5 million
in research funding by the Atlantic Innovation Fund to further his research in the use of advanced MRI technologies in oil and gas exploration
Critical Thinkers Abound
St. Thomas University, UNB, the University of Fredericton, and Yorkville University produce over 1700 graduates per year in the Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Business Administration.
Innovation District
The majority of Fredericton’s 60+ research institutes and organizations are clustered within a two-kilometer radius, making collaboration and cooperation a way of life. The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, located a short walk from the heart of the Innovation District, has invested over $62 million in the last 5 years in New Brunswick start-ups and R&D with commercialization potential.
